GEM Environmental is excited to welcome one of our new members to the team. Jake Morris is our GEM Corps Crew Leader! Originally from Colorado, Jake moved to Arizona to pursue his life goals. He is interested in the outdoors, arts and crafts, and anything JRR Tolkien. Welcome to the team, Jake! Please provide a brief description highlighting your work/area of focus. My main focus in my career is to engage with my community. Often this is through education with youth and volunteer service. I'm always looking for opportunities to learn and build relationships. What do you plan to accomplish during your service term with GEM? During my service term I plan to develop a basic understanding of event organizing while developing strong relationships with professionals in the Prescott community. What are your career goals?
My career goals are to complete a master’s degree in social work and to have completed a Teach For America term. Have you had any other internship or service opportunities before this? If so, how do you believe internships have benefited you so far? This is my second AmeriCorps term and I'm happy to be a part of it. My first AmeriCorps term taught me a lot about self-management and professional communication. Alongside personal skills, I also received an education award that helped me pay off some of my student loans.
