Robert Graves Memorial Scholarship
for Veterans in STEM

Thank you for your interest in applying for the Robert Graves Memorial Scholarship for Veterans in STEM.

Please read the information provided below to see if you meet the eligibility criteria. If you have determined you are eligible to submit an application, please fill out the application page below, attach any requested documents, and submit the application for review.


This scholarship opportunity opens each year on Veteran’s Day, November 11th, with applications being accepted through April with a May 1st Deadline.
Award(s) will be announced each year on Memorial Day, the last Monday of May.


Award:
$1,500 cash award

The term "veteran" as listed on VA.gov means a person who served in the active military, naval, or air service, and who was discharged or released therefrom under conditions other than dishonorable.

Eligibility Criteria:
  • Must hold veteran status with the US Veterans Administration.
  • Currently working on or planning on pursuing a post military career in a STEM field.
  • Currently enrolled in or planning on enrolling in an accredited STEM program at a university, college, or trade school.
  • Age 18 or older or have signed permission by a legal guardian.
Application Requirements:
  • Must provide Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty form DD 214.
  • Copy of academic transcripts from current institution if enrolled or an acceptance letter if planning to enroll.
  • A Letter of recommendation is strongly encouraged. Letters of recommendation may be submitted directly to the Director of Scholarship at Scholarships@gemenvironmental.org by the individual who wrote the letter.
Personal Statement:
  • 2-3 pages in length.
  • Explain how you plan to pursue your academic goals and potential career in a STEM field.
  • Explain how you will use your funds to cultivate your academic goals, research, plan for continuing your education, or potential career.

Award(s) will be announced each year on Memorial Day to honor the Memory of Senior Airman Robert Graves.

Please fill out the online application below. You will be asked to attach several documents at the end of the application, including transcripts and a personal essay. Note that race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and political affiliation will not be considered in the application process and should be excluded from the statement. Scholarships are awarded purely on the applicant’s enrollment in STEM programs and his/her desire to contribute to their respective field.
