Grant Writer
1 x Position Available - Prescott, AZ
Start Date: Upon the successful completion of Background Check (please list your availability in application)
Position Pay: Depending on experience, starting at $16 per hour.
This position has a high potential for wage increases depending on the individual's effectiveness and ability
to successfully procure new avenues for program funding.
Part Time: 20-30 hours a week (with potential to go full time after 60 day probationary period)
Job Summary:
This position requires the individual to develop and submit both large and small, multidisciplinary, and multi-collaborative grant proposals to a wide range of funding agencies and organizations, including both public and private external entities.
The grant writer will coordinate with team members, grantors, and collaborators; support proposal and budget development; write and edit proposal narratives and budgetary justifications; synthesize and submit proposal materials where relevant; and serve as liaison with the GEM sponsored programs during pre and post-award periods. This will require the individual to track and coordinate participation in ongoing funding opportunities; support and collaborate with Organizational Officers, Directors, Department Coordinators, Finance/Budget Committees, and other researchers to formulate and submit grant proposals in collaboration with a variety of departments and programs.
GRANT PROPOSAL DEVELOPMENT & COORDINATION MANAGEMENT
SUPPORT FOR DEVELOPMENT AND STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS
Write and help to produce written reports and other materials for public relations and development activities.
Work with organizational officers, directors, project managers, department coordinators and other G.E.M. Environmental personnel to provide support for active communication strategies for program cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Assist outreach team with communicating information on current funding activities.
Communicate research or program progress to grantors, donors, sponsors, and the public.
Assist with creation and maintenance of the organizations web site content and other special projects.

Work Environment:
Individual will commonly work in an office setting using illuminated computer displays with possible background noise and disruptions. Some travel may be required between local offices or to offsite meetings with organizational affiliates, government representatives, donors, etc. Position may allow for telecommuting and work preformed with limited supervision.

GRANT PROPOSAL DEVELOPMENT & COORDINATION MANAGEMENT
- Work closely with organization officers, department coordinators, scientific staff, and other GEM Environmental Affiliates to prioritize and produce major multidisciplinary grant proposals, reports, and other documents.
- Facilitate team formation, conceptualization, writing and review of proposals.
- Write and edit a variety of comprehensive narrative and budgetary justification for stylistic consistency according to a recognized and approved style, logic, and policy of funding organizations.
- Hold responsibility for coordination and timely submission of qualified proposals, including supporting documentation. Serve as liaison between Government Agencies, Private Foundations, Grantors, and/ or sponsored programs during pre and post-award periods.
- Track funding opportunities and inform collaborators and partners of potential grant funding; coordinate and manage team efforts to identify opportunities.
- Provide guidance and support to PIs, project coordinators and others regarding grant guidelines and procedures governing state, federal, and private grant proposal submissions; and reviewer expectations.
- Track reporting schedules and facilitate development and writing of reports including supplemental information from project leaders and collaborators.
- Maintain continuity of writing style among different writers and throughout the material.
- Translate specialist writings into a common vocabulary necessary for interdisciplinary research projects.
- Manage the development of several proposals, reports, and other projects simultaneously to meet deadlines.
- Create templates and documents to support the proposal development infrastructure; maintain a knowledge base consisting of project descriptions, research personnel academic biographies and professional profile documents.
- Record and maintain data on proposal submissions and track annual numbers and funding amounts requested and awarded.
SUPPORT FOR DEVELOPMENT AND STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS

- Experience writing and coordinating multidisciplinary sponsored research and private grant proposals with multiple collaborators for a variety of funding sources.
- Experience writing/editing and proofreading a variety of technical materials.
- Communications skills to interact with diverse groups of individuals to research, secure and/or provide information, clarify situations, resolve problems, and ensure cooperation among individuals.
- Organizational and time management skills to coordinate projects and people, prioritize and track multiple projects simultaneously, and meet critical deadlines.
- Experience with computer hardware and software for word processing, desktop publishing, spreadsheet, web editing and presentation tasks/assignments.
Preferred Qualifications for Selection:
- Experience producing written marketing materials including profiles, articles, and funding narratives.
- Experience interpreting and applying various funding agencies' technical requirements and procedures.
- Knowledge of and skill to apply various academic style guidelines.
