Employment and Service Opportunities with GEM Environmental
AmeriCorps Crew Leader
|
The Crew Leader manages the day-to-day activities of 4-8 members. They serve as a role model, facilitator, educator, and work to encourage high standards for crew members involved in GEM Corps community-based, service projects. The Crew Leaders is expected to serve 30 to 40-hour work weeks over the duration of their term with 8-16 hours per week occurring on weekends.

AmeriCorps Crew Member

GEM Corps crews accomplish meaningful outdoor conservation projects alongside a variety of land management agencies and community partners. These partnerships provide unique and beneficial opportunities for all GEM Corps Members. Members should expect to serve 8-10 hours over the weekends as well as participate in 1-2 hours of professional development and/or leadership training each week. Members will be supported and mentored by professional skills trainers and leaders throughout their term of service while members gain insight into a variety of conservation related projects such as trail building/ maintenance, habitat restoration, invasive species studies/ treatment, scientific studies, and/ or mapping.

Youth Conservation Internships (YCI) BLM-AZ
Range Technician Intern
|
2 Internship positions created in cooperation with the BLM for participants to work in the Hassayampa Field Office (HFO) or Auga Fria National Monument. Interns should possess a desire to learn botany, biology, and/or have an interest in livestock management.

Range Technician Intern
|
2 Internship positions created in cooperation with the BLM for participants to work in the Lower Sonoran Field Office (LSFO) or the Sonoran Desert National Monument. Interns should possess a desire to learn botany, biology, and/or have an interest in livestock management.

Maintenance Interns
|
2 Internship positions created in cooperation with the BLM for participants to work with the Phoenix District Office (PDO) Force Accounts to assist with Recreation and Deferred Maintenance projects for the Support Services Branch such as livestock and wildlife catchments or building / fixing fences, pipelines, and water storage facilities. Interns should posses some knowledge of construction practices and be able to work outdoors in intemperate environments.

GEM Environmental: Abandoned Mine Lands (AML) Interns
Geographer's Assistant

Internship participants will assist GEM staff scientists on our federal contract work in mapping, taking inventory of, and assessing site categorization of abandoned mine lands on public lands administered by the BLM and USFS across New Mexico.
