Project #1011 - GEM Corps Crew Leader
Full Time Member – 900 hours
Name of Program: GEM Corps
Position title: AmeriCorps Crew Leader
Criminal History Check: NSOPW, and Criminal History Checks are required for before program involvement.
Member Duties: The Crew Leader manages the day-to-day activities of 4-8 members in a work crew. They will serve as a role model, facilitator, educator, and continually encourage high standards for members involved in community-based, service projects.

Work Schedule: GEM Corps Crew Leaders are expected to serve 30-40-hour work weeks over the duration of their term with 8-16 hours per week occurring on weekends. Off days will fall on weekdays and may or may not be consecutive depending on the program schedule of any particular work week. GEM Corps Crew Leaders will also participate in 1-2 hours of civic leadership/professional development training as a part of their 30-40 hours per week.

Program Benefits:
- $14,400 in non-taxable Living Allowance Stipends per 900 hour service term (equivalent to $16.00/hour)
- Additional Housing Stipend may be available
- Up to $6495 in Segal Education Award per year through AmeriCorps.
- Two-year non-competitive hiring status eligibility pending approval through DOI’s PLC program.
- OSHA 30-hour General Industries Certification
- Participation in personal and professional development opportunities
- Civic Leadership Certificate from Prescott College
Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills - verbal and written
- Demonstrated strong leadership and supervisory skills to lead by example
- Experience in trail work and wilderness travel
- Ability to motivate and create an excellent team environment
- Proven organization and time management skills
- Mature judgment to solve problems while guiding others with diverse backgrounds and experiences
- Ability to assess tasks, develop work plans, delegate assignments, and monitor progress
- Ability to foster a positive crew dynamic
- Proven ability to adapt to changing work schedules
- Experience with safety protocols and precautions related to hand and powered tools
- Dedication to complete the full term of AmeriCorps service
Requirements:
- Must be a US Citizen, US National, or Lawful Permanent Resident Alien of the US
- Must pass the National Sex Offender Public Registry and criminal history check.

- Actively participate in technical and personal skills training, strive to further develop these skills in the field, and serve as a resource to mentor members.
- Support training and educational activities by facilitating learning opportunities.
- Coordinate and fully contribute to service projects to the best of their ability.
- Must serve safely, effectively and efficiently to ensure that conservation projects are completed to a high level of satisfaction.
- Foster a positive crew dynamic and help mitigate conflict among crew members.
- Communicate effectively with crew members, program staff, and agency liaisons.
- Organize crew gear, tools, and work supplies throughout the season.
- Plan daily project schedules to maximize productivity, safety, and crew efficiency, in consultation with agency staff.
- Coordinate tools, equipment, and materials for service projects. Load vehicles properly. Do not leave needed tools behind and do not leave tools at the service site.
- Receive constructive feedback regarding project outcomes and crew progress.
