Director of Scholarship                                          Part Time Volunteer Position
1 x Position Available - Prescott, AZ
Term: 2 years
Start Date: Upon the successful completion of Background Check (please list your availability in application)
Volunteer Position
: roughly 10 hours per month, up to 18 on months with scholarship votes.


​POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Director of Scholarships will review and edit the rules and grading rubricsa for GEM Environmental scholarships, incorporating suggestions from the board. For each scholarship application sent in, the Director of Scholarships will ensure all applications are complete ensuring all supplemental materials have been correctly submitted. If there is an error from the applicant, the director will ask for corrections from the applicant in a timely manner. After the scholarship recipients are announced after a scholarship committee vote, the director will send each approved applicant award notices and each declined applicant edits they can make to improve their scholarship for the next round.

The board meets quarterly to review scholarship applications. The time requirement is approximately 10 hours a week on weeks with a review and approximately 1-4 hours on non-review weeks.


REQUIREMENTS:
  • Excellent knowledge of performance evaluation and change management principles.
  • Excellent knowledge of Adobe and MS Office
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving ability
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Work experience or formal education in a STEM field
  • Good understanding of the scientific method and processes involved in STEM education.
  • Contagious positive attitude

JOB DUTIES:
  • Establish and maintain a close working relationship with the Executive Director, Business Manager, and Board of Directors to execute both the organization’s Mission and Goals.
  • Efficiently disseminate, collect, catalog, and report on organization statistics for grant reporting.
  • Inspire staff, members, participants, and the community to participate in our mission.
  • Be a resource for best practices, new ideas, and strong execution of shared goals.
  • Foster the next generation of our scientific community through leadership development, value training, personal/professional development, and service learning.

    Personal Questions         
    List the project title from the job posting you are applying for.
    Provide the date of your birth as recorded on your Birth Certificate.
    Have you ever been know by any other names or aliases? If so, please include.
    Please select you employment status. As these positions are paid for in part or whole by federal funding, all participants must be U.S. Citizens, U.S. Nationals, or legal residents authorized to work in United States. All applications are subjected to an e-verify check.
    enter in the last four digits of your social security number to be used to verify your identity in a pre-employment background check.

    Education          
    Provide the name of the school you are currently enrolled in or recently graduated from.
    If you have had a parent or guardian earn a 2-year or 4-year college degree from an accredited institution, select no as your answer. This does not include trade or technical schools.
    Applicants must have a GPA above 2.5.

    Applicants approved for interviews must pass a federal background check before the project start date
    ​and submit for a finger print clearance card. 
    This does not eliminate you from contention, so please explain your situation to further your chances of acceptance.
