Public Relations Associate
1 x Position Available - Prescott, AZ
Start Date: Upon the successful completion of Background Check (please list your availability in application)
Position Pay: Depending on experience, starting at $16 per hour.
This position has a high potential for wage increases depending on the individual's effectiveness and ability
to successfully procure new avenues for program funding.
Part Time: 20-30 hours a week (with potential to go full time after 60 day probationary period)

Work Environment:
Individual will commonly work in an office setting using illuminated computer displays with possible background noise and disruptions. Some travel may be required between local offices or to offsite meetings with organizational affiliates, government representatives, donors, etc. Position may allow for telecommuting and work preformed with limited supervision.

This position is a critical position and subject to a background check. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background investigation including criminal history and identity check.

Job Summary:
- Effectively communicate the organization’s mission, goals, value, accomplishments and activities to media representatives, community leaders, elected officials, Board members, and other key constituencies or affiliates.
- Create, update, and administer a comprehensive marketing plan which includes regularly gathering community input and assessing the organization’s needs; identifying opportunities to attract and engage new participants, volunteers, and/ or retain existing affiliates; and successfully promoting the organization’s core resources, services and programs.
- Actively seeks opportunities to interact and partner with other organizations in order to enhance and improve services and/or broaden awareness of the GEM’s Mission.
- Manages, prioritizes, and assists in the creation and distribution of promotional content across a variety of formats.
- Advises and guides GEM staff in identifying and reaching target audiences for specific programs and services
- Assist in the writing of comprehensive narratives and budgetary justification for stylistic consistency according to a recognized and approved style, logic, and policy of funding organizations.
- Assist in the coordination and timely submission of qualified proposals, including supporting documentation.
- Serve as liaison between Government Agencies, Private Foundations, Grantors, and/ or sponsored programs during pre and post-award periods.
- Identify new funding opportunities and inform collaborators and partners of potential funding sources.
- Provide guidance and support to PIs, project coordinators and others regarding grant guidelines and procedures governing state, federal, and private grant proposal submissions, and reviewer expectations.
- Manage the development of several proposals, reports, and other projects simultaneously to meet deadlines.
- Create templates and documents to support the development marketing infrastructure; maintain a knowledge base consisting of program descriptions, personnel biographies, and professional profile documents.
- Record and maintain data on programs and marketing campaigns; track annual participation numbers, demographics, and report on mission driven statistical analysis.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field from an accredited school. Experience may substitute for education.
- Experience writing/editing and proofreading a variety of technical materials.
- Communications skills to interact with diverse groups of individuals to research, secure and/or provide information, clarify situations, resolve problems, and ensure cooperation among individuals.
- Organizational and time management skills to coordinate projects and people, prioritize and track multiple projects simultaneously, and meet critical deadlines.
- Experience with computer hardware and software for word processing, desktop publishing, spreadsheet, web editing and presentation tasks/assignments.
Preferred Qualifications for Selection:
- Experience producing written materials for development communications activities, including profiles/articles, and program narratives.
- Experience interpreting and applying various technical requirements and procedures to communications and marketing material.
- Knowledge of and skill to apply various academic style guidelines.

- Learn the relative roles of organizational affiliates, staff, program coordinators, administrators, and the protocols for effective communications and interactions between all parties.
